Protest vor dem Kino Babylon in Berlin gegen die israelische Queer Movie Night

Aktivist*innen von Berlin against Pinkwashing protestierten am 27. Juli 2018 vor dem Kino Babylon in Berlin gegen die israelische Queer Movie Night, eine kostenlose Veranstaltung der israelischen Botschaft. Die Gruppe protestiert gegen die Instrumentalisierung von LGBTQI*-Themen durch Israel, um seine Menschenrechtsverletzungen im besetzten Palästina zu verschleiern.

Berlin Against Pinkwashing protested against a queer movie night organised by the Israeli embassy on Thursday, July 26th. As a group of queer Berliners from all backgrounds, we will always oppose the attempt to use our identity as a PR tool for state discrimination. And the reality of the Israeli state is racism, discrimination and violence. We love films, but not at the expense of solidarity with those facing racist oppression.

The Israeli embassy is sponsoring a “Israeli Queer Movie Night” on Thursday July 26th (https://www.facebook.com/events/259916874381316/).

These types of pinkwashing events serve the purpose of distracting from the Israeli state’s despicable human rights record against the Palestinian people. Let’s challenge this marketing of misinformation–come join us to protest this event and distribute flyers to challenge the Israeli embassy’s narrative.

The attacks on Gaza in the summer of 2014 alone killed at least 2200 people. At least 136 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers since the Great March of Return protests began on March 30th. Among those murdered were lesbians, gays, trans* people and other queers. Israel’s bombs do not stop for LGBTIQ* people. The wall around Gaza fences Palestinians into the world’s largest open air prison. There is nothing humane or progressive in an occupation, and this context of violence and oppression simply cannot be ignored when talking about ‘progressive’ human and LGBTIQ* rights in Israel.

It is insulting to herald the state of Israel as a defender of human and LGBTIQ* rights when these rights are only extended to a certain part of the population, while the other part is living
under an apartheid-like regime.

Diese Art von ‘Pinkwashing’ Veranstaltungen haben nur eines zum Ziel. Die unwürdigen Menschenrechte Israels gegenüber den Palästinensern zu vertuschen. Wir treffen uns vor dem Kino um Flyers über Pinkwashing zu verteilen und gegen der Veranstaltung zu demonstrieren–eine Art Pinkwashing Informationsveranstaltung.

Die Angriffe auf Gaza im Jahr 2014 haben ca. 2200 Menschen getötet. Seit Beginn der Demo “Marsch der Rückkehr” am 30. März wurden schon mindestens 136 Palästinenser_innen getötet. Unter ihnen waren Homosexuelle, Transmenschen und Queers. Die Israelischen Anschläge machen auch nicht halt vor LGBTIQ* Menschen. Die Mauer um Gaza speert die Palästinenser in das größte offene Gefängnis der Welt. Es gibt nichts menschliches oder fortschrittliches an einer Besatzung und dieser Zusammenhang von Gewalt und Unterdrückung, darf nicht ignoriert werden, wenn die Rede von “zunehmenden” Menschen- und LGBTIQ-Rechten in Israel ist.

Es ist beleidigend die Meinung zu verbreiten, Israel als Verdeitiger der Menschen- sowie LGBTIQ-Rechte darzustellen, wenn diese Rechte nur für einen bestimmten Teil der Bevölkerung bestimmt ist. Währendessen der andere Teil der Einwohner in einem Apartheid-ähnlichen Regierunssystem lebt

Kommt zum Babylon am Rosa-Luxemburg str. 30 und lasst uns unsere Stimme Gehör verschaffen!
