Banner drop at the Freie Universität in Berlin – End Genocide in Gaza!

On the 4th of June 2025 comrades of the FU BDS Campaign used the demonstration against government spending cuts organised by “Studis Gegen Rechts” to once more urge the university and its students to boycott Israeli academic institutions by dropping a banner with the words ‚End Genocide in Gaza. End Complicity. Support BDS!‘. Our resistance against the Genocide and Germany’s complicity applies also to the increasingly militarised politics of the German state.

The growing militarisation of society now leads to cuts in the academic and social sector. We won’t let the struggle for a liberated Palestine be silenced or excluded in order to appease our university’s complicit administration.

Our resistance against said militarisation is part and parcel of a struggle for a well-financed academia. We will use every occasion to speak out and remain steadfast against the genocide and the FU’s reprehensible cooperation with Israeli universities, who actively not only deny academic freedom, but also act to oppress the basic human rights and dignity of Palestinians. We will keep calling on our students, staff and university administration to cut the ties with Israeli universities and support BDS!
