BDS Berlin lädt ein zur Diskussionsrunde
Der Aufruf der palästinensischen Zivilgesellschaft zu Boykott, Kapitalentzug und Sanktionen und die Reaktionen in Deutschland und Israel

Seit fast 11 Jahren ruft ein breites Bündnis der palästinensischen Zivilgesellschaft zu Boykott, Sanktionen und Investitionsentzug gegen Israel auf, ähnlich wie dies seinerzeit die Anti-Apartheid-Bewegung in Bezug auf Südafrika tat.
Es geht der BDS-Bewegung darum, von unten Druck auf Firmen, Institutionen und Staaten aufzubauen, um Embargos und Sanktionen gegen Israel zu erreichen, sowie internationale und israelische Unternehmen, die an den Verletzungen des Internationalen Rechts durch Israel beteiligt sind, öffentlich anzuprangern. Die palästinensisch geführte BDS-Bewegung lädt auch Israelis ein, um eines auf Gerechtigkeit gegründeten Friedens willen den BDS-Aufruf zu unterstützen.
Wir wollen gemeinsam darüber reden, wie dieser Aufruf der palästinensischen Zivilgesellschaft in Israel und Deutschland aufgenommen wird. Dazu haben wir Ronnie Barkan, Mitbegründer der israelischen Gruppe Boycott! Supporting the Palestinian BDS Call from Within eingeladen, mit uns und Kritiker*innen der BDS-Kampagne zu diskutieren.
In der Vorbereitung zur diesjährigen „Revolutionären 1. Mai Demonstration“ bezeichneten Vertreter*innen der Ökologischen Linken (Ökoli) und ÖkoLinX-ARL die internationale BDS-Kampagne und BDS Berlin als antisemitisch, ohne dies zu begründen. Während die überwiegende Mehrheit der anwesenden Gruppen diesen Vorwurf zurückwies, haben sich andere der Stimme enthalten.
Wir wollen das zum Anlass nehmen, eine längst überfällige Diskussion über die internationale BDS-Kampagne zu führen, die außerhalb Deutschlands seit Jahren als selbstverständlicher Bestandteil emanzipatorischer Bewegungen wahrgenommen wird.
Dazu findet eine offene Diskussionsrunde statt, zu der wir ausdrücklich auch BDS-Kritiker*innen und -skeptiker*innen eingeladen haben. Wir wünschen uns einen offenen und respektvollen Umgang miteinander. Dies soll eine Diskussion ermöglichen, in der die unterschiedlichen Standpunkte mit ihren Implikationen deutlich werden.

The Palestinian Civil Society Call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions and the reactions in Germany and Israel

For almost 11 years, a broad alliance of the Palestinian civil society has called for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel, similar to what the Anti-Apartheid movement did in relation to South Africa.
The BDS Movement aims to build up pressure on companies, institutions and states in order to achieve sanctions and embargos against Israel, as well as publicly denounce international and Israeli corporations, which participate in the violation of International Law by Israel. The Palestinian-led BDS Movement also invites Israelis to support the BDS call, for the sake of peace based on justice.
We want address how the BDS Movement is perceived in Israel and Germany. Because of this, we have invited Ronnie Barkan, a co-founder of the Israeli group Boycott! Supporting the Palestinian BDS Call from Within, to discuss the BDS Campaign with its critics.
During the preparation of this year’s “Revolutionary May 1st Demonstration”, representatives of the Ecological left (Ökologischen Linken) and the ÖkoLinX-ARL called the international BDS-Kampagne and BDS Berlin anti-Semitic and called for the exclusion from the coalition. While the majority of the present groups have rejected the motion, others have abstained from voting.
We want to take the occasion to lead a long overdue discussion on the international BDS Campaign, which is perceived outside of Germany as a self-evident, integral part of emancipatory movements. For this, an open panel discussion will take place, to which we explicitly also invite BDS critics and skeptics. We wish for an open and respectful discussion with each other. This should allow a discourse, in which the various positions and their implications become clear.
