Es reicht! Schluss mit der Kriminalisierung der BDS-Bewegung für Gerechtigkeit in Palästina! Lasst uns das Recht auf BDS unterstützen!

Warum dies wichtig ist:

Frankreichs Oberster Gerichtshof hat die Verurteilung von AktivistInnen bestätigt, die zum Boykott israelischer Waren aufgerufen hatten.

Die britische Regierung wird eine neue Reihe von Regeln implementieren, die es für Kommunen und andere öffentliche Einrichtungen, einschließlich Universitäten, schwieriger machen wird, ethisch vertretbare Beschaffungs – oder Investitionsentscheidungen zu treffen.

Der israelische Geheimdienstminister Yisrael Katz sagte auf der größten israelischen Konferenz gegen BDS, die am 28. März in Jerusalem stattfand, dass Israel mit Hilfe des israelischen Geheimdienstes mit „gezielten zivilen Eliminierungen“ gegen BDS-„Führer“ vorgehen sollte.

Weltweit sind gewaltfreie basisorganisierte AktivistInnen bedroht!

Sehr geehrter Herr Juncker – Präsident der Europäischen Kommission,
sehr geehrte Frau Astola – Generaldirektorin für Justiz und Verbraucher der Europäischen Kommission,

wir, die unterzeichnenden BürgerInnen Europas sind höchst alarmiert über die fortwährenden Versuche einiger europäischer Regierungen, den politischen Aktivismus gegen die israelischen Völkerrechtsverletzungen zu kriminalisieren.

Der israelische Geheimdienstminister Yisrael Katz sagte auf der größten israelischen Konferenz gegen BDS, die am 28. März in Jerusalem stattfand, dass Israel mit Hilfe des israelischen Geheimdienstes mit „gezielten zivilen Eliminierungen“ gegen BDS-„Führer“ vorgehen sollte. Das war auf der gleichen Konferenz, an der der EU-Botschafter in Israel neben Führern der Siedlerbewegung teilnahm. Es ist höchst alarmierend, wenn irgendwo Minister einer Regierung derartige Drohungen gegen Menschenrechtsverteidiger aussprechen!

Wir möchten unsere Empörung über derartige Hetze und Angriffe auf Bürgerrechte zum Ausdruck bringen. Wir bitten um Ihre Hilfe, das Grundrecht auf freie Meinungsäußerung der europäischen BürgerInnen zu bewahren, die das palästinenische Volk und / oder andere Völker weltweit bei der Verteidigung ihrer Grundrechte unterstützen.

Darüber hinaus möchten wir daran erinnern, dass das schwedische Außenministerium grundlegende demokratische Prinzipien bekräftigte, als es erklärte, BDS sei „eine Bewegung der Zivilgesellschaft“ und Regierungen sollten „sich nicht in Auffassungen zivilgesellschaftlicher Organisation einmischen“.

Der UN-Zivilpakt (ICCPR) bekräftigt das Recht auf unbehinderte Meinungsfreiheit und das Recht auf freie Meinungsäußerung. Diese Rechte sind miteinander verknüpft und bilden die Grundlage anderer Rechte, einschließlich der Rechte auf Versammlungsfreiheit und auf Freiheit des Zusammenschlusses. Dementsprechend hat der Menschenrechtsausschuss bestätigt, dass Meinung nicht kriminalisiert werden sollte.

Die Europäische Union muss ihre rechtliche Verantwortung wahrnehmen, einschließlich der Verteidigung von Individuen, Gruppen und Institutionen der BDS-Bewegung gegen unrechtmäßige Angriffe. Die Europäische Union muß Israel für seine Völkerrechtsverletzungen zur Rechenschaft ziehen.

Wir, die unterzeichnenden europäischen BürgerInnen sind davon überzeugt, dass Ihre Rolle in der Europäischen Kommission in dieser Angelegenheit von höchster Bedeutung ist. Wir fordern Sie daher auf, Leitlinien für Menschenrechte einzuführen, in denen das Recht auf Redefreiheit und das Recht auf Boykott garantiert werden. Wir fordern Sie des weiteren dazu auf, alle Ihnen zur Verfügung stehenden Mittel auszuschöpfen, um die europäischen BürgerInnen in ihrem Kampf für die Aufrechterhaltung grundlegender Menschenrechte zu unterstützen.
